Five Pillars of
Seva Parmo Dharma

Shivhari Dharma Foundation Trust works across five dimensions of human welfare — each a commitment to transforming lives in the service of society with dignity and compassion.

Pillar One

Healthcare

The Trust believes that access to quality healthcare is not a privilege — it is a fundamental right. Through Jaitrinath Arogya Sansthan and a range of outreach programmes, we are working to bring compassionate, dignified medical care to all, with special focus on those who have been left behind.

Our healthcare work is guided by the principle that every human being — regardless of economic standing, caste or religion — deserves to be treated with respect and given the best possible care.

What We Do

  • Establish and operate hospitals, polyclinics and nursing homes
  • Ambulance services and trauma care for road accident victims
  • Rural medical camps and mobile health outreach in villages and slums
  • Home care and medical support for the elderly, disabled and bedridden
  • Blood donation drives and eye check-up camps
  • Training and education in para-medical and nursing disciplines
  • Publication of health literature and awareness materials

Wellness in Action

Yoga & Wellness

The Trust promotes yoga as a path to a healthy body and a peaceful mind. Through our trustee Nutan Thakur and her initiative Yogabhyaas, we hold regular sessions and yoga education for the community — bringing the traditional practice of yoga to people of every age, grounded in a modern, scientific understanding.

Education is
the great equaliser

The Trust views education as the most powerful tool for lasting social transformation. Our goal is to ensure that economic circumstance never determines whether a child learns to read, dream, or lead.

Pillar Two

Education

From schools and colleges to scholarships and skill development, the Trust's education work is focused on creating pathways to learning for every child and young person — regardless of background, gender or economic circumstance.

What We Do

  • Establish and run schools, colleges and educational institutions
  • Scholarships for meritorious and financially weaker students
  • Vocational training and skill development centres
  • Computer education and digital literacy programmes
  • Libraries, reading rooms and study centres in rural areas
  • Free coaching for competitive examinations for underprivileged youth
  • Teachers' training and educational outreach in remote villages
Pillar Three

Social Service

At the heart of everything the Trust does is a commitment to social justice — ensuring that the most vulnerable members of society are seen, supported and empowered. Our social service work spans rural upliftment, disaster response and community welfare at every level.

What We Do

  • Rural upliftment through infrastructure and livelihood support
  • Support to destitute women, widows, orphans and the homeless
  • Disaster relief — floods, droughts, epidemics and natural calamities
  • Women's empowerment and self-help group formation
  • Rehabilitation of drug addicts and prisoners re-entering society
  • Legal aid and awareness for socially marginalised communities
  • Environment protection — tree plantation, water conservation

Shivhari Muktidham

In many villages around Jhanjharpur, poorer families struggle to find a place — or the means — to cremate their loved ones with dignity. On land the Trust has already secured, we are preparing Shivhari Muktidham: a cremation facility that is free and open to every family, where last rites are performed with full religious respect, and where no one is ever turned away for want of money or land.

Shivhari Muktidham
🪔
Free for Every Family

No family is charged; nobody is denied a dignified farewell for want of money or land.

🕉️
Full Religious Rites

Cremation carried out with proper rituals and respect, in keeping with faith and tradition.

🌳
Land Already Secured

The Trust holds the land for the facility; the site is now being readied for service.

🌱
Electric Crematorium

Envisioned in time, to reduce the need for firewood and protect the environment.

🎭

Culture is
the soul of a people

Bihar has one of the richest cultural traditions in the world — from Madhubani painting to the ancient universities of Nalanda. The Trust is committed to preserving this heritage and passing it on to future generations.

Pillar Four

Culture

Heritage, arts, language and identity are at the core of a thriving community. The Trust works to celebrate, protect and promote the cultural wealth of Bihar — honouring what has been built over centuries while creating space for contemporary expression.

What We Do

  • Preservation of folk arts, crafts and traditional music of Bihar
  • Cultural festivals, Ramlila, Ramkatha and community celebrations
  • Protection of ancient temples, ghats and heritage sites
  • Language promotion — Hindi, Maithili, Sanskrit and regional dialects
  • Publication of books, journals and cultural literature
  • Support to artists and cultural practitioners in rural communities
A Heritage Initiative

Dharohar

Dharohar (“heritage”) is a commemorative volume that gathers thirty scholarly essays celebrating the deep tradition of learning in Sarisab-Pahi and Hati, in Mithila — brought together to mark an annual gathering of scholars. It carries the spirit of विद्या ख्यापिता ख्यातिः — that true renown is won not through wealth, but through knowledge.

Dharohar — commemorative volume cover

About the Volume

  • 📖 Thirty scholarly essays — 19 Maithili, 5 Sanskrit, 4 Hindi, 2 English
  • ✍️ Edited by Dr. Indra Nath Jha & Dr. Sadanand Jha
  • 🪷 Guided by the motto
  • 🏛️ A literary tribute to the scholarly heritage of Sarisab-Pahi & Hati

Published in 2023 by the founders’ educational and social trust — Pandit Harinarayan Jha & Pandit Shivnarayan Jha Shaikshanik evam Samajik Sahyog Nyas (Hati, Sarisab-Pahi, Madhubani). It reflects the same devotion to learning and culture that the Shivhari Dharma Foundation Trust carries forward today.

Pillar Five

Humanity

General public utility — the fifth pillar — covers everything that builds a more liveable, humane society. From community halls to libraries to drinking water projects, the Trust invests in the infrastructure of everyday dignity that too many communities lack.

What We Do

  • Community halls and gathering spaces for public use
  • Libraries and reading rooms in rural and urban areas
  • Drinking water and sanitation facilities in underserved areas
  • Old age homes (Vriddhashram) and homes for the destitute
  • Construction and maintenance of roads, drains and public infrastructure
  • Marriage halls and dharamshalas at affordable rates
  • Public awareness campaigns on social issues and civic rights
